India’s Olympians Get Ready For 75th I-Day Celebration

Yet another delightful day for sports fans is here. It’s India’s 75th Independence Day and many Indians wait for today’s day to witness the culture and diversity of India. The PM will address the nation from the Red Fort in Delhi. Many athletes who represented India at the Olympics will be present at the flag hoisting ceremony. The football leagues are also up and running, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, all have started on a high. Whereas, in Spain, FC Barcelona will play without Messi in the squad for the first time since 2004. Speaking of Messi, he was spotted in the stands with Neymar Jr. watching the PSG match. 

In tennis, Daniil Medvedev won the National Bank Open semi-final and will play the final on 16 August. Tsitsipas lost a hard-fought game in the other semi-final. 

In cricket, England has turned the Lord’s Test on its head. Not only did they bat well for one and a half days, but also secured a 27 run lead in the first innings. On Day 4 of 2nd Test, India will come on to bat with the hope that the batsmen score some runs and get a sizeable lead to challenge England in the 2nd innings.
