KL Rahul’s Candid Chat With Mayank Agarwal


India’s vice-captain in Test matches, KL Rahul has been in some sublime form of late. Fortunes changed for the Karnataka batsman when he went to play the Test series in England where he scored 315 runs in 8 innings at an average of 39.37.

Just ahead of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, KL Rahul was seen chatting with fellow opener, Mayank Agarwal in a video. During the chat, Rahul said that he did not think of even making a comeback in the Test side. 

“Before 6-7 months or a year ago, I never thought of playing another Test for India. Things changed quickly and I am very hapy and grateful for such a huge responsibility is given to me as vice-captain for this tour. I am looking forward to giving my best,” said Rahul on BCCI website.

In the interview, KL Rahul also said that it is an honour to be the vice-captain of Indian Test team. On the upcoming Boxing Day Test in Centurion, L Rahul said, “I have bitter-sweet memories from Boxing Day. I debuted on a Boxing Day Test in Australia, but that did not go well. I lost my position again. I felt that’s the end for me.”

“I think I have become more balanced in my approach towards the game. I have changed a lot from how i used to play in 2014 when I made debut and in 2018,” Rahul added.

KL Rahul, has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Test team during the tour of South Africa. He has been given the job in absence of Rohit Sharma who is missing the series due to a hamstring injury. 

The vice-captain also praised Rahul Dravid and said that he is helping the team a lot. The first Test match between India and South Africa starts on 26 December 2021.
