Kohli, Dravid Congratulate ‘Great Fighter’ Harbhajan Singh On Illustrious Career


Harbhajan Singh announced retirement on Friday from all forms of cricket. Although Harbhajan was away from most competitive cricket for a long time, his commitment to the IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kept him from announcing retirement. In a video released by BCCI, captain Virat Kohli and coach Rahul Dravid are sending farewell messages to Harbhajan Singh.Ā 

The turbanator announced retirement on Friday by saying, “All good things come to an end and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life.”

The 41-year-old from Punjab took 417 wickets in 103 Tests, 269 wickets in 236 ODIs, and 25 scalps in 28 T20Is in his career. He was part of two successful World Cup-winning campaigns in 2007 and 2011.Ā 

In the video released by BCCI on Harbhajan’s retirement, Rahul Dravid says, “His career had its share of ups and downs and he faced many challenges but he always came out fighting and smiling. A great competitor, a great fighter, a great team man and someone you always want to go and battle with.”

Virat Kohli, on the other hand said, “Bhajji Paa, big congratulations for a wonderful career. 711 international wickets is no mean feat and I think you can be very proud of that achievement.”

“The highlight of Bhajjiā€™s career would be the Australia series where he took 32 wickets and just to see the way he came back, as he was dropped from the team and the way he performed in the absence of Anil Kumble is phenomenal. All the best to him for life,ā€ Dravid concluded.Ā
