Lalu Yadav sentenced to three and half years in jail

Lalu Yadav has been sentenced to three and half years in jail in the fodder scam case. A fine of Rs 5 Lakhs has also been imposed. In case the fine is not paid, the jail term will be extended by another six months. As the sentence is more than three years he will not be able to get bail easily. Now Lalu Yadav will have to approach High Court for any redressal. Lalu had mentioned in his plea that he had no role in this scam directly.

The RJD chief and with 14 others were found guilty by the court. Seven other accused, including former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra, were earlier acquitted on 23 December 2017. Convicts Phool Chand, Mahesh Prasad, Bake Julious, Sunil Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Sudhir Kumar and Raja Ram have also been sentenced to 3.5 years in jail and Rs 5 lakh fine each.
