Piyush Goyal To Inaugurate India Pavilion Showcasing Emergence Of ‘New India’


New Delhi:  After a year-long delay, the first world fair in the Middle East known as Expo 2020 Dubai opened on Thursday to a lavish ceremony of fireworks, music and will witness the participation of 192 countries including India.

Dubai Expo 2020 will be the world’s second-biggest (after Tokyo Olympics) event since the outbreak of Covid-19. The full expo site will open its doors to exhibitors from almost 200 countries on Friday. Chosen eight years ago to follow the 2015 Expo in Milan, Italy, Dubai Expo 2021 has been described as equivalent to the size of 600 football fields.

Here’s what you should know about India pavilion

The India Pavilion will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Friday at 6 PM Dubai time (4:30 PM IST). The India Pavilion at the Dubai Expo, one of the largest pavilions of the event, will showcase the emergence of a ‘New India’ to the world.

The India Pavilion will display an innovative kinetic façade made up of 600 individual colourful blocks. Developed as a mosaic of rotating panels, it will showcase different themes as they rotate on their axis.

Coinciding with India’s celebrations of Amrut Mahotsav, 75 years of Independence, Expo 2020 will be a significant platform for India to showcase its vibrant culture and tremendous growth opportunities. Around 15 states and nine central ministries from India are participating in this six-month-long expo, which will be ending on March 31, 2022.

Gujarat will be the first state to showcase its product in India Pavilion followed by Karnataka, Ladakh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. These states will exhibit their culture, food, and business opportunities.

Central ministries like Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Tourism, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Department of Space, Ministry of Renewable Energy, Department of Pharmaceuticals, and Ministry of Textiles are also among the various ministries and departments participating in the event.

Indian conglomerates and global companies, including the Tata Group, Reliance, Adani, Vedanta, Hinduja Group, and L&T, will also participate in the Expo 2020 Dubai.

Dubai, the ultimate hub of the region’s tourism, trade, and business, is expecting to attract 25 million business and tourist visits to the world fair which has been built from scratch on 4.3 sq km of desert.
