ICC T20I Rankings: India’s star batsman KL Rahul has slipped to the sixth position in the Batsmen’s list in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 Rankings, released on Wednesday while Virat Kohli retains his stand at the eighth position.
Rahul, who scored a half-century in India’s last three matches of the T20 World Cup, currently has 727 points but has slipped by one position. Rahul, who was appointed vice-captain of the Indian T20 team, scored 69, 50 and 54 not out against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia respectively. However, India was eliminated at the Super 12 stage of the tournament itself.
Kohli, who quit as T20 captain after the tournament, remains at the eighth position with 698 points. Rahul and Kohli are the only two players from India to rank among the Top 10 in the T20 rankings. Among the other players, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and David Warner have also climbed back on the rankings, after playing a key role in helping their team win the first T20 World Cup.
Mitchell Marsh moves up to 6th position:
Marsh, who scored an unbeaten 77 in the final against New Zealand, climbed up six places to a joint 13th position, while Warner, who was named the best player in the tournament, moved up eight places to 33rd. New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson, who scored 85 runs in the final, climbed seven places to the 32nd position, while Devon Conway climbed up three places to rank Fourth.
Among Australian bowlers, leg-spinner Adam Zampa has moved two places up to Third position, while pacer Josh Hazlewood has moved up two places to Sixth. New Zealand pacer Trent Boult has jumped up seven places to 14th position. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone has moved up seven places to rank third on the list of all-rounders.
